On Friday, May 07, Governor Greg Gianforte signed a bill into law putting a hard damper on county/city/local government ability to interfere in the relationship between businesses and their customers. Follow the links.

The way I read this is as a serious rebuke and setback for the Missoula County/City Health Dept. and other local jurisdictions who want to act as tyrants. What this means is that CHD can no longer require any private business to refuse entry to its customers because they are not wearing a mask. It means that local businesses and their customers can ignore the signs, stickers, etc., and carry on without interference from the Covid Police. See especially:
Section 4: 2(a) (b) (c) (d) and sub-section 3, as refer to Ordinances. Section 5 refers to Resolutions, Section 7 refers to disasters. Section 8 specifically spells out what local health boards MAY do and Section 9 details what they MAY NOT do. If once was not enough for them to understand, the rule has been repeated in each of these section. CHD MAY NOT force businesses to prohibit traffic to their stores. Period.
This is a huge win for free individuals everywhere in Montana. A big Shout Out to the governor and the legislators who pushed this through.
However, this does not say anything to those businesses which subscribe to the "theory of the Covid" and may still practice restricting customers who try to enter maskless. Face of Freedom believes that this would fall under "open for public business" rules and would be contrary to the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and the 1964 Civil Rights Act. We are developing a strategy to counter actions of this sort. Stay tuned.
